An article I read yesterday brought back a memory—
While standing in a checkout line, a child burst into a full-blown, on the floor, kicking and screaming, arms flailing temper tantrum. Her dad put his items on the counter, stooped down and scooped her into his arms. He held her close with his arms wrapped around her still trembling body. He never said a word. The message was clear:
“I can’t allow this behavior, but I love you. I love you with every fiber of my being. No matter what you do or how you act, I will always love you.”
Within seconds the tantrum subsided.
